Whoops!
I am 23 now (almost 24), time to write things. Time to be regular. To everything there is a season!

rain on my windowpane
So the first two weeks of school are done. done with! dunzo! I'm a little bit behind, but honestly it's only been 10 days. I'm not too worried. Mostly it's weekend catch up. Also, it's my last semester, so...
Monday of this week I went to see Chromeo at the Bowery Ballroom. I had a hell of a time. Kid Sister opened and she was the greatest thing since [delicious low calorie] sliced bread. Honestly. I turned to Marla and said, "wow, do you think she would be my friend? maybe come to my next party?" Probably not, but a girl can dream. She looked great too, very classy but sexy at the same time. And her dance moves were out of orbit. Fantastic. Chromeo took a little while to come out, but it was worth it. The people around me were digging it. I obviously was too. I think Dave 1 was also digging it. Around campus he always looks very calm and collected, and of course very, very hip. On stage he was grinning like an idiot. It was great. And p-thugg? Gangsta as always. Marla does his "spread your arms and point two fingers in the air while bowing your head" move and she looks automatically cooler because of it.
The alcohol was flowing freely among the crowd if you know what I mean, so there was no lack of dancing. The other day I looked on brooklynvegan, and woot!

There I am. My face anyway. (between the two bearded guys)
Last night we had what you could roughly call a ladies night out. We ventured out of our heights area and hit lolita, pianos and finally the dark room. I danced my little booty off. And there was a guy that danced with me! Seriously dudes, way to my heart. Dance like a fool with me and I am like puddy in your hands! Maybe I'll even buy you a sandwich!
The only problem with the night was that I was wearing my friends pumps which are probably about a half size too small for me and by the end of the night I was so happy dancing I didn't care. Fast forward to a few minutes later when I walk out of the dark room and feel like my feet are breaking and my toes are going to snap off. I was limping, taking my shoes off periodically... coming back uptown, I'll admit I was that girl. I couldn't help it. Still, it was totally worth it. No doubt about that!
So here's hoping for a happy February. Make it good!

Be Jealous
As of 12:30pm tomorrow, I will be headed here for a week. Updates to come when I'm back in school, have easy access to the internet, and am procrastinating.

From the Cup O Joe
Hey y'all,
I am in Columbus. I have been here for a few days and will be here for a few more days (until the 12th) at which time I will hop to New York on my way to Jamaica. Then I'll be back in New York for the beginning of my last ever semester of College. The current situation is like this - I'm in the house, somehow wireless-ly stealing a few cable channels, but have to resort to local coffee shop for my use of the internet, which is about 2-3 hours every couple of days. They are starting to look at me funny.
My pants are tighter, but I think that might have something to do with eating fries four times a week and driving everywhere. Gas is expensive. It's freaking cold as crap. On the inspirational side of all of this, I've affirmed my big girl status by shoveling and salting my very, very long driveway during our mini snow storm. Oh yes, that reminds me - it snowed a lot. The snow is mostly gone and now it's just cold.
I went out on New Years, but missed out on the kiss at midnight that I've hyped up for quite some time. I've learned from my friends that if you want to achieve that goal you just have to push a younger guy against a corner in a crowded house and it sort of happens on its own. Good to know.
Happy 2008!

Merry Christmas!
I am experiencing a great deal of good cheer right now, not only because it's Christmas but also because last night (Christmas Eve) I had the most amazing meal ever. We went over to a family friend's house as we have done many times before. They always have a buffet and the food choices are pretty much the same (delicious) choices every year, but this year... above and beyond! It was magnificent! My eating rivaled a man. A hungry man.
So in the spirit of Christmas and in order to promote good will towards men, I am going to share with you a piece of advice.
NO. NO NO NO NO NO.
The rest of the world and I had to grin and bear it when the genie pants bomb went off, but what is this? Some kind of weird genie bodysuit? Some kind of cruel joke?
Please note how "flattering" this outfit can be. On a model! Let's hope this never hits the streets.
In hope that this day will never dawn,
MERRY CHRISTMAS.

I fell down the stairs on thursday. I landed. Hard on my butt. An hour or two later I had my last final of the year. I figured with the whole falling down debacle took care of my debacle count for a little while, but I guess it was a week of falling. Thursday night my roommate fell down trying to lock me out after I did a (dead on) impression of her impatiently waiting for people to leave, and friday I was showing Regis and Stephan around Central Park, when around 86th Stephan slipped on some wet leaves and hurt his knee. He had to stay in his hotel room the rest of the day (and the next day too). Moral of the story? You might think it's that I'm like a poison and everyone around me should watch out, but mostly it's just watch yourself. Wet leaves are dangerous!

New New New Updated
So, super observant person, you can tell that this whole bloggy thing looks different. That it does. I spent a good chunk of my night doing the relatively minor yet completely noticeable revisions while not studying for my art final. I mean, my final's not tomorrow so whatever.
In related news, Wednesday at 4pm I am officially finished with my first semester of my last year of college. Hoorah. Actually, I am really happy about it. Happy to be on to next semester (with the seven credits I need to graduate), happy to be eventually out of college (anything gets old after four years), and happy to crack open the bottle of bushmills in the freezer. I'm also planning to dance a lot. Even if it's just me and my roommate doing the cabbage patch to Fancy Footwork in our living room. Or more likely I'll do a little dance, listen to some Cold War Kids and concede to the draw of my down quilt. I've been doing that a lot lately.
I'm actually doing it right now.
This is me at 21, folks. I have a feeling I'm going to be a really boring old lady.

Missing In Action
Since I last saw you I have become a non pet owner, danced the bejeezus out of myself in front of a cross, fallen asleep in a taxi and learned to LOL.
And how were your two months?

Still Alive
Many things have happened that I don't feel like chronicling, but the main point is that yes, I am still alive. And yes, I am a very, very bad blogger. The picture below is from a Hiro Ballroom party that Marla and I went to and continue to go to every week (with the exception of the courtney love performance last week). I meant to write about it more, but alas. That week was Boys Noize and Kerowack (very good). There was this girl dj in between the two that basically blew my mind. Best party since london. The next week was Chromeo, which was basically a shitshow in every sense of the term. Lots of Columbia kids. Very sweaty. But the music is fun and let's face it, the guy knows how to dress. I tell my fellow students that don't know who he is to just look out for the sharpest dresser in Butler Library. I think when he's not on tour he lives there.
In lieu of Courtney Love last thursday, Marla and I went to Beauty Bar for the Maximo Park afterparty and had one of the best nights I've had this summer. It was one of those nights where everything happened for a reason. There were no mistakes and no regrets. Hints? There was pizza, good conversation, at least one free drink, a little bit of dancing AND the dancing was to the smiths. okay and throw in an extra cute and funny musician or two. pretty good night.
I've been trying to figure out exactly where my time is going. This is the first summer I've worked full time, and boy that eats away at your days, doesn't it? The job is nice, steady, even fun at times and for an office job it's probably one of the best I could have. The people are great too. But when I stop to think about the summer as a whole, this one seems to be passing so much faster. Like it's being swallowed before I can really appreciate it. It's difficult to stop and notice something while it's still happening. I guess thems the breaks.
But anyway, let me not ignore the important part of this summer - that I'm subletting an awesomely real new york apartment close to campus with my friends and I got a haircut and some extra cute clothes. We're a little trifecta, we are. Marla makes sure we always have beer, I clean, and Pooja invites people over. I realize this makes me sound like the lame one, but really - I can't help it.

Adjusting is such an odd thing. As much as I'd like to think I'm not affected by where I am, that I'm the same everywhere - can anyone really be the same everywhere? Coming back, can I be london Adrienne or should I be New York Adrienne? Do I even remember what New York Adrienne is? Not that I didn't love being in London, I did - it was a great experience that I don't regret for one second, and I would do it again (maybe a little differently). Being back is great, seeing all my friends is great, but I have to remember the New York Adrienne - the one that was used to having friends around and going to dinner and calling everyone, but it's weird because I'm still in the London mindset, just get a meal and be alone. Wow that sounds kind of sad.
Bottom line is I learned how to be alone and completely independent in London. In a generally good way. Now my situation has changed. It's not like that here. I have opportunities to do all sorts of other things and be around my friends while I do it. It's great to be in the city, but how long until I can get the rest of me back?
I just want to be carefree and happy at this point! Damnit!

homey
I've been back for almost two weeks. I spent a week in columbus (no internet) which was actually very nice and relaxing. Gas prices were not. Boring story short, I am back in New York. I move into my apartment soon, and have a less that full-time, not quite paying job. I'm looking to rectify that. Or should I say, rent is forcing me to rectify that. Here's to getting a job!
It's been nice to see some family and extra nice to see my puppy.

Rewind
England has returned to it's old weather. It's sad, really. We had so many nice days in March and April when we maybe shouldn't have and now May is cold enough that I have to take a coat out with me at all times. In other news, almost all my friends are gone and it's my last weekend in England. 5 days left! The happy side to that is of course that I will get to go home, but also that we managed to have some fun drinking during the day and being generally ridiculous. The cloudy weather wasn't any help, but we managed to have a good time. It's strange to believe I won't see the same people everyday anymore. If I see them again at all!
We've made some tentative plans for meeting next year in New York. I get excited every time I think about going back, mainly because of the delicious food I'm going to make my mother stop and pick up on the way home from the airport, but also because of all the delicious foods I'll get to shove in the face of my friend Janne, who is from Germany, and has never had the pleasure of eating, say, a biscuit. They don't even know what biscuits are over here! It's both sad and shameful. So basically if she comes to New York for a week, I will already have every meal lined up for us because let's face it - that's the most important part anyway. An unsatisfied stomach is an unsatisfied mind!
