A SHOW FOR THE PRETEENS IN ALL OF US

So tonight was my last april concert - Phantom Planet + the Harlem Shakes at the Knitting Factory. I had no idea the Knitting Factory main space was so small and so incredibly hot. But the show was good. The audience brokedown something like this: 99.9% female, 0.1% male, 100% nuts. No, really. The audience was actually nuts. Whereas Adam Green was like chilling with some friends, this show was like a secret-fans only-camp-outside-in-the-rain kind of thing. People were dancing, reaching on stage, jumping around and screaming the lyrics. But in return for the rabid behavior, we got a great show. The band was really tight and they sounded great. Even though the 11 was their second show of the night, they kept us entertained. "Big Brat" was fucking amazing and of course, they played "California." Except this version rocked, reminded me nothing of the OC, and featured the keyboardist from the Harlem Shakes playing the piano part on this tiny toy shit casio pt1. The audience energy must have done something because Alex stagedived 4 or 5 times after saying multiple times that we were "fucking rad." Near the end of the concert, he told us he wanted to see if he could walk to the door. He wasn't kidding. He launched into the audience and actually started walking on people's hands. He almost made it... but then he fell and his ass landed on my friend's face.

All in all it was a good experience.

The Harlem Shakes opened and I must give credit where credit is due - They were rather good. Okay, they were excellent. I don't know how much they know about Harlem, but they know a thing or two about shakin'. Especially that Bass player. His booty did double time on a couple of songs.

hey, if you're up at 6 - listen in to my show... I don't exactly have it planned, but whatever (it's the wBURN link on the side). Oh, and happy May!
